Phone call role-play with variations


Learnings Outcomes

• use standard phrases for phone calls
• speak about the topic of role play
• inquire, complain, deal with etc.


Learnings Activities

• receive their role (determined by teacher)
• learners prepare for their role play
• role play the phone call (no cameras)

Variation: If there is more time or the learners are more advanced
• give learners new pairs with new situations


Teaching Activities

(note: use video and/or collaborative writing activity to prepare phrases and vocabulary
• prepare the prompts
• hand out the prompts
• create the pairs
• control the camera


Materials & Tools

• if one device and one remote learner:
classroom learners work back to back in pairs, one classroom learner can be seated at the classroom computer (camera off, requires headphones)
• if one device but several remote learners:
clasrroom learners work in pairs, remote learners in breakout rooms, one remote learner can be paired with one classroom learner at the classroom  computer
